Sixers Improve Record Going into Break as Eric Snow Dreams of the Playoffs

As the Sixers were busy taking care of business against the Rockets last night, Eric Snow was busy doing something completely different while doing the broadcast on Comcast Sportsnet with Marc Zumoff.

This video is part of the live broadcast on CSN last night, I wasn’t exactly sure what I heard when it was live but DVR is great, and I was able to rewind and catch this moment that I’m sure Snow can’t be proud of.  It starts as they come back from a commercial break with the Sixers leading 50-45 with a couple minutes left in the first half.  You’ll need volume for this one, enjoy…

Catch that?  Snow littttttttttttttttttttttttttttt… whoops, sorry I tend to “meditate” when I write my articles.  Anyway, I’m 95% sure that Eric Snow fell asleep during the game last night.  They come back from break, he gives his little input on Thad Young’s bucket, and then Zumoff brings the audience to the free throws and throws in some praise for the young Evan Turner.  If you’ve watched many Sixers games recently, once Zumoff mentioned Turner you expected Snow to step in and talk about the improvements Turner has been making and how his production will increase with playing time.  I think I’ve heard that 28 times in the last 5 Sixers games…

But there was nothing.  No words from Snow.  This prompts Zumoff to say, “You meditating?”  Then listen as Snow tries to explain how some people are “wearing on him” (?) and how he needs a “burst of energy,” just like on the basketball court!  Well done, Eric Snow, relating sleeping on the job to Sixers basketball.  That’s what you need in your color guy.

He finishes his last sentence before the free throws from Brad Miller at the 38-second mark in the video.  Zumoff wonders if his partner has been practicing meditation at the 1:08 mark.  That gives Snow 30 seconds to fall asleep while Brad Miller takes his free throws.  I think it can be done.  In fact, it was done by the multi-talented Eric Snow last night.  I knew he was a skilled passer and floor general as we saw during his time in Philly with Allen Iverson, but I never knew he was such a skilled sleeper.  I need some lessons; I take an hour long train ride every morning and can’t fall asleep on that most of the time.

In other news, the Sixers pulled to within 2 games of .500 last night with their win and their record stands at a respectable 27-29 at the All-Star Break.  Iguodala tallied a triple-double as 6 other Sixers scored in double digits in the win.  The Jruth, nickname courtesy of John Hollinger, led the way with 20 for the Sixers.  They were able to rebound from Houston’s hot start from beyond the arc, find a rhythm, and keep a lead for the majority of the game.  Philadelphia-native and Villanova alum Kyle Lowry dropped 36 points on 15-18 from the floor including 6-9 from three, and was the only Rocket the Sixers were unable to contain.  We held their best scorer, Kevin Martin, to only 9 points in 34 minutes in the win.

Following the break, the Sixers have the Wizards, Pistons and Cavaliers to begin the second half as they hope to establish themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the playoffs.  Maybe E-Snow can stay awake for those games.
